The Conejeras Weir is a hydraulic structure on the Northern Branch of the Castile Canal, located in the municipality of Lantadilla (Palencia), at kilometer 45.480. Built between 1759 and 1804, it forms part of the extensive Enlightenment project that provided Castile with a complex network of infrastructure for water management and the promotion of agricultural activity. Its defining characteristic is the simplicity of its architecture, designed to efficiently meet the canal’s needs.
The structure, designed for irrigation, has a square floor plan, measuring approximately 2.80 meters in length and width, and nearly 2.95 meters in height. It is topped with a hipped roof, protected by a perimeter cornice that aids in rainwater runoff. The walls combine limestone masonry with a pressed brick lining, while the roof itself consists of stone slabs supported by a brick dome—a strong and durable construction method common in this type of structure.
