The Arroyo Melgar Aqueduct, built between 1831 and 1836, forms part of the Campos Branch of the Canal de Castilla, in the section between the Sahagún el Viejo Bridge and the Fuentes de Nava Bridge. Located in the municipality of Paredes de Nava (Palencia), at kilometer 105.550, its function is to allow passage under the Melgares stream, ensuring the continuity of the hydraulic system and controlling the flow in an agricultural environment characteristic of Tierra de Campos.
The structure consists of two vaults with segmental arches, separated by an intermediate pillar, a solution that distributes the load and reinforces the overall stability. Each arch has a span of approximately 4.25 meters and a height of about 0.60 meters. The aqueduct is approximately 10.90 meters long, with a width of approximately 26 meters and a total height of 4 meters. It is built entirely of limestone masonry and is complemented by stone parapets and finials that channel the stream and protect the structure.
