Becerrilejo spill

The Becerril Spillway is located on the Campos Branch of the Castile Canal, in the section between the Third Retention Weir and Venta de Valdemudo, at kilometer marker 76.850, within the province of Palencia. This type of hydraulic structure is an essential part of the canal’s functional system, as it allows for the management of excess water and ensures the safety and stability of the route, especially during periods of increased flow. It is an infrastructure designed to fulfill a very specific function within the hydraulic system, related to the control and drainage of water from the canal, and was built following the technical criteria typical of large-scale Enlightenment-era engineering projects.
