Castil de Vela is located in the Tierra de Campos region, and the Canal de Castilla is an essential part of its historical landscape. In its immediate vicinity are several unique features of the Campos branch, such as lock number 3, with its lock keeper’s house, and the Castil spillway, designed to regulate excess water. A short distance away is also lock number 4, a complete complex that includes the lock, bridge, lock keeper’s house, and a large warehouse, a testament to the intense canal activity linked to the transport of grain.

The main historical landmark is the Church of San Miguel Arcángel, built in the last third of the 17th century, an example of rural religious architecture in the Tierra de Campos region. Alongside it, a remarkable collection of vernacular architecture is preserved, in which clay plays a fundamental role, visible in dovecotes, houses, and outbuildings.
