Olmos de Pisuerga is a small hamlet belonging to Herrera de Pisuerga, situated in a rural setting defined by water. Located in the Pisuerga Valley, from which it is separated by the Canal de Castilla and its double lock, the river landscape has always shaped the character and rhythm of this place.
The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, built between the 16th and 17th centuries, is Gothic in style and its simple silhouette blends naturally into the village.
On the banks of the Pisuerga River, the remains of the San Pedro bridge are also preserved, an old passage to the province of Burgos and originally linked to a vanished pilgrims’ hospital, which testifies to the historical importance of this crossing point.
Olmos de Pisuerga is situated between fertile plains and wide horizons, in a landscape where water has decisively shaped its character.
