Requena de Campos is located in the Tierra de Campos region, in a territory shaped by the major historical communication routes of the Meseta Central plateau. Along with the influence of the nearby French Way of the Camino de Santiago, the Canal de Castilla has decisively influenced the landscape and the town’s layout. At this point, the canal also plays a unique role: the change in watershed, as it passes from the Pisuerga basin to the Carrión basin.

The history of Requena de Campos dates back to the Middle Ages, when it appears documented as a place of behetría, a condition that gave its inhabitants the right to choose their own lord.

The main heritage landmark is the Church of San Miguel, built in the 16th century by order of Bishop Antonio de Rojas. Alongside it, Requena de Campos preserves a remarkable collection of vernacular architecture, with cellars dug into the ground, traditional dovecotes, and adobe buildings, all of which speak to an agricultural economy closely linked to the land and its resources.

The landscape of Requena de Campos can be understood from Tierra de Campos and from the footprint of the Canal de Castilla.
