The Almenara de Requena is a hydraulic element of the Northern Branch of the Canal de Castilla located in the municipality of Requena de Campos (Palencia), at kilometer 48.110. Built between 1759 and 1804, it is part of the set of infrastructures planned during the Enlightenment to regulate water and promote the agricultural use of the territory.
The structure, designed for irrigation, has a square floor plan, measuring approximately 3 meters long, 3.30 meters wide, and 3.30 meters high. It is topped with a hipped roof, formed by stone slabs placed over a brick-reinforced dome. A perimeter cornice collects rainwater from the roof and channels it to the exterior through a gargoyle, a functional detail that also protects the structure. The enclosure is constructed of limestone ashlar, a common material used along the Canal de Castilla due to its strength and ability to blend well with the landscape. The watchtower retains the upper section of the roof, reinforcing the overall impression of the structure.
