The Royal Aqueduct, built between 1753 and 1757, is part of the Campos Branch of the Castile Canal, designed to ensure the canal’s continuity over natural watercourses. Located in the municipality of Paredes de Nava (Palencia), at kilometer 100.700, its function is to allow the Regadera del Bayoto stream to pass under the canal, guaranteeing flow control and the stability of the hydraulic infrastructure.
The structure is resolved by means of a single arch whose vault adopts a segmental design, that is, a low arch that widens at the opening, a solution that improves structural performance and facilitates water drainage. The arch has an approximate span of between 1.90 and 2.25 meters and a variable height between 2.80 and 4.05 meters. The entire structure reaches approximately 9.70 meters in length, with a width of nearly 26 meters and a total height of 6.30 meters. It is built entirely of limestone ashlar and is complemented by stone parapets that protect the structure and visually organize its appearance.
