The Tesoro Aqueduct is a hydraulic work on the Southern Branch of the Castile Canal, located within the municipality of Palencia, at kilometer 95.414. Built between 1759 and 1804, it forms part of the grand Enlightenment project that sought to organize the territory and guarantee efficient water management through a network of solid and durable infrastructure. Its significance lies in the clarity of its function and the simplicity of its construction, which is fully integrated into the landscape.
The structure allows passage under the Valdescuezo stream channel via a single semicircular arch, with an approximate span of 1.85 meters and a height of approximately 1.65 meters. The overall dimensions are approximately 2.65 meters long, 5.80 meters wide, and 6.70 meters high. The structure is completed with stone parapets and wing walls that channel the water and reinforce the aqueduct’s stability. The entire structure is built of limestone masonry, a material characteristic of the Canal de Castilla due to its strength and suitability to the surrounding environment.
