The Val Aqueduct is a hydraulic work of the Northern Branch of the Castile Canal located in the municipality of Piña de Campos (Palencia), at kilometer 64.250. Built between 1759 and 1804, it is part of the great enlightened project that transformed the territory through a complex network of infrastructures intended to guarantee the continuity of the canal and an efficient management of water.
The structure allows passage under the Val stream channel via a single semicircular arch, with an approximate span of 2.45 meters and a height of 1.30 meters. The overall dimensions are approximately 3.30 meters long, 29.55 meters wide, and a maximum height of 8.40 meters. The design is completed with a plain impost at the base of the parapets and stone wing walls that channel the water. The parapets flare out at their ends towards the stream bed, reinforcing stability and ensuring proper water drainage. The entire aqueduct is constructed of limestone masonry, a material characteristic of the Canal de Castilla due to its strength and durability.
