Valdemudo Aqueduct

The Valdemudo Aqueduct is located on the Campos Branch of the Castile Canal, in the section between Venta de Valdemudo and Villaumbrales, within the municipality of Becerril de Campos, in the province of Palencia. Built between 1753 and 1757, this structure plays a vital role in the canal’s hydraulic system, allowing the Valdemudo or Corredera stream to pass beneath it, thus ensuring the continuity of the natural water flow and the stability of the main infrastructure.

The structure comprises three segmental arches, a type of arch with a lower profile than a semicircular arch, supported by intermediate piers. Each arch has an approximate span of 1.80 meters and a height of 0.60 meters. The entire structure measures 8.70 meters in length, 5.80 meters in width, and 6.00 meters in height. It is completed with parapets and wing walls that reinforce its structural and functional integration. The entire aqueduct is built of limestone ashlar, a strong and durable material characteristic of the large-scale works of the Canal de Castilla.
