Villarramiel is located in Tierra de Campos, in a flat territory integrated into the natural environment of La Nava-Campos.

The town was founded in the mid-10th century by the Álava nobleman Herramel Álvarez, from whom it took its original name, Villa Herramel. From its medieval origins, it achieved significant economic development in the Modern Age, especially linked to leather tanning. In the 19th century, its population exceeded three thousand, establishing itself as one of the most important towns in the region.

The town’s monumental heritage is defined by the neoclassical Church of San Miguel, which preserves its monumental Renaissance façade known as La Cantería. Nearby are the Church of Santa María, the Hermitage of Las Angustias, and a remarkable collection of dovecotes, bourgeois houses, and traditional architecture, reflecting the town’s urban and artisanal past.
