Villaumbrales is located in Tierra de Campos, in a territory historically linked to the Laguna de la Nava de Fuentes, the ancient Sea of Campos.

The Canal de Castilla runs through the town and has decisively shaped its history, as the canal’s main shipyard, dedicated to the construction and repair of barges, was located here. This connection is preserved today in the Canal de Castilla Museum, housed in the historic Casa del Rey (King’s House).

The town’s monumental heritage is centered around the Church of San Juan, declared a Site of Cultural Interest and built in the 13th century. This complex also includes the tower of San Pelayo, a vestige of an ancient temple that no longer exists, and the hermitage of San Gregorio, a representative element of the popular and devotional religiosity of the region.

Villaumbrales also preserves an interesting traditional architecture, representative of the historical landscape of Tierra de Campos.
