The Casablanca Aqueduct is a unique structure of the Castile Canal, built between 1753 and 1757 to ensure the crossing of the Casablanca stream beneath the canal. Its significance lies in the clarity of its function and the high quality of construction with which a delicate point in the route was resolved, integrating the hydraulic work into the landscape without altering the natural course of the water.
The structure consists of a single semicircular arch, a classic and effective solution that distributes the load to the abutments. It features a smooth impost at the base of the parapets, stone parapets, and wing walls that channel the flow of water. The barrel vault is set back, reducing its length in height compared to a second vault, a construction technique that reinforces the overall stability. The arch reaches lengths between 3.00 and 3.65 meters and heights between 1.65 and 4.25 meters, while the aqueduct as a whole is approximately 6.15 meters long, 3.00 meters wide, and 7.10 meters high. The entire structure is built of limestone ashlar.
