Cubillas de Santa Marta is located in the Pisuerga River valley, historically marked by a deep-rooted winemaking tradition. The town maintains a direct relationship with the Canal de Castilla, which runs through its immediate surroundings. Lock number 39 is located along this stretch, a key piece of infrastructure for understanding the canal’s operation and its role as a transport axis and economic hub for the valley since the 18th century.
Cubillas de Santa Marta treasures a remarkable collection of ethnographic heritage, among which the traditional excavated wineries and cave houses stand out, in addition to an interesting repertoire of popular architecture.
The main historical landmark is the Church of Santa María, a 17th-century building that preserves the medieval essence of the original 13th-century temple. Inside, a formidable Allen organ stands out, reinforcing the cultural value of the complex.
