The Nevilla Bridge, also known as the Paredes Bridge, was built between 1831 and 1836 as part of the Campos Branch of the Castile Canal, designed to ensure the continuity of roads along the waterway. Located in the municipality of Paredes de Nava (Palencia), at kilometer 105.170, its main function is to allow the road connecting Paredes de Nava with Frechilla to cross, integrating vehicular traffic into the canal’s network.
The structure is achieved through a segmental arch, a low arch that reduces the height without compromising stability. The arch is approximately 10 meters long and 4.55 meters high. The entire structure reaches a length of about 12.30 meters, a width of 4.80 meters, and a total height of 6.60 meters. It is built entirely of limestone ashlar and is completed with stone parapets and wing walls. Very narrow walkways, currently made of concrete, are located beneath the bridge, providing continuity to the paths alongside the canal. The canal channel itself has been reconstructed in concrete, an element that contrasts with the bridge’s historic construction.
