Trigueros del Valle is located in the Pisuerga countryside, with a unique urban landscape dominated by the castle, which defines the silhouette and history of the town.
The first documentary references date from the 11th century, although its history is earlier. A 10th-century Mozarabic arch is preserved in the hermitage of Our Lady of the Castle, evidence of an early fortified settlement atop the hill. With the consolidation of the territory, the population moved down to the valley, and at the end of the 12th century, the Romanesque church of Saint Michael the Archangel was built, which came to define the new urban layout.
In the 15th century, Trigueros became a fiefdom of the Robles de Guevara family, who built the castle, which played a key role in events such as its assault by the Comuneros in 1521.
The heritage is further enhanced by a remarkable collection of traditional wineries, cave houses carved into the hillside, ancient medieval hermitages, and a rich vernacular architecture in adobe and stone, dotted with coats of arms. All of this is integrated into a landscape where wine remains a defining characteristic.
