From Calahorra de Ribas to the bridge of the Venta de Valdemuro, in Husillos

This section of the Castile Canal, 5.7 kilometers long, begins in Calahorra de Ribas, where the waters of the Carrión River and the canal converge, a key point from a hydraulic perspective. Along the route, numerous regulation infrastructures stand out, such as locks, gates, ditches, and sumps, which demonstrate the complexity of the water management system. The environment is mainly agricultural, with historical remains such as mills and lock-keeper houses. The route is simple, following the left bank, and allows for an understanding of the canal’s technical operation and its importance in the development of the territory, especially since it begins at the point where construction started in 1753.
