Canal de Castilla

From the Bridge of Desire to Fuentes de Nava

What to see

This section of the Canal de Castilla runs for 9 kilometers between the Puente del Deseo and the Puente de Fuentes, crossing the agricultural landscape of Tierra de Campos. The route is mostly easy, especially along the left bank, which has a well-maintained path. Along the itinerary, flatter areas are combined with more natural stretches, where paths appear among riparian vegetation. The canal maintains its historical function as a hydraulic axis, allowing us to understand its importance in irrigation. The route offers a peaceful walk, ideal for discovering the rural environment and the canal’s heritage.

Practical information

  • It is better to use the left margin, although it is a bit steep at first, then it is simple. On the other hand, the right one has a good initial condition, but it has difficulties in the final stretch.
